Administration

Dr. Megan Parker - Chief Executive Officer.

Dr. Megan Parker (aka Megan Bredhauer) has worked as Executive Officer of the College since May 2002, becoming Chief Executive Officer in July 2008. Megan brought to the College relevant experience as the Director of Murdoch University's Office of Continuing Veterinary Education. In this role she designed numerous Continuing Veterinary Education courses for veterinarians and veterinary nurses and supervised the delivery of the Masters of Veterinary Studies Distance Education course. In addition, Megan founded the University of Queensland Postgraduate Veterinary Science Association in 1994 and was Assistant to the Director of International House, an international residential college within the University of Queensland, in 1996. Megan also has experience as a clinician in both private and university companion animal practices.

Megan graduated from The University of Queensland with First Class Honours in 1991 and was awarded her PhD from The University of Queensland in 2000 for studies in Avian Medicine and Microbiology. She graduated from the Australian Institute of Company Directors in 2007 and became a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management in 2008.

In addition to the College, Megan manages Northgate Veterinary Surgery, a companion animal practice in Brisbane's inner Northern suburbs, with her husband Bernie Bredhauer. She is passionate about lifelong learning and delivering best practice. What she most enjoys about the College is the opportunity to work with the tremendous team of highly committed and motivated individuals of outstanding professional calibre who willingly give of their time to manage and conduct the day to day affairs of the college.

Mrs. Elaine Lowe - College Manager

Mrs Elaine Lowe has worked as Administrative Officer of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists for nearly 24 years. She became "College Manager" in September 2008.

Elaine was initially offered the position of part time secretary of the College in May 1985 by the then Chief Examiner and Honorary Treasurer Dr Ted Moodie. Elaine had worked previously in the UK as secretary for the Board of Governors of a number of private schools.

Elaine's position with the College was initially poorly defined or understood. She was given a desk, a typewriter and an enormous pile of subscription forms and asked to process them and bank them. The College had previously not had an office, and casual secretarial work had been done by the Australian Veterinary Association (Qld) secretary and the secretaries of the various Presidents, Chief Examiners or Honorary Treasurers.

As time went by Elaine's job grew and began to define itself. Elaine found her feet, and began to take on a major organizing and administrative role within the College.

Throughout her College journey, Elaine's says her best memories are of good times with the people she has met and got to know along the way. Elaine looks forward to continuing her involvement with the College, which is ever-changing and ever-challenging.

All the members, staff and candidates of the College continue to appreciate Elaine's devotion and support. Her attention to detail and diligence are outstanding and very much appreciated.

Ms. Sharon Tinsley - Administration Assistant

Sharon joins the College as an Administrative Assistant after a period of time out   of the workplace whilst raising her son. She has a 9 year old son, Mitchell, and is now returning to the workplace and looks forward to a long and rewarding career with the College. Sharon has experience in the office/clerical environment although in a totally different profession. She has a background in the legal environment bringing with her thirteen years experience as a legal secretary for a sole practitioner in Brisbane. Sharon looks forward to learning all aspects of the administration of the College.
