Mrs Elaine Lowe has worked as Administrative Officer of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists for nearly 24 years. She became "College Manager" in September 2008.
Elaine was initially offered the position of part time secretary of the College in May 1985 by the then Chief Examiner and Honorary Treasurer Dr Ted Moodie. Elaine had worked previously in the UK as secretary for the Board of Governors of a number of private schools.
Elaine's position with the College was initially poorly defined or understood. She was given a desk, a typewriter and an enormous pile of subscription forms and asked to process them and bank them. The College had previously not had an office, and casual secretarial work had been done by the Australian Veterinary Association (Qld) secretary and the secretaries of the various Presidents, Chief Examiners or Honorary Treasurers.
As time went by Elaine's job grew and began to define itself. Elaine found her feet, and began to take on a major organizing and administrative role within the College.
Throughout her College journey, Elaine's says her best memories are of good times with the people she has met and got to know along the way. Elaine looks forward to continuing her involvement with the College, which is ever-changing and ever-challenging.
All the members, staff and candidates of the College continue to appreciate Elaine's devotion and support. Her attention to detail and diligence are outstanding and very much appreciated.
